Welcome to “People Caring for People,” a monthly interview series made possible by Piedmont Health. In this series, we hear from health care professionals about the most significant health issues facing our community, and the services available for people who need them.

In this installment, Aaron welcomes UNC Rex Mobile Mammography Coordinator Jade Watta to mark the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Watta discusses the importance of early detection and self-exams, for men as well as women, as well as the importance of regular mammograms especially if you have a family history of breast cancer. She also talks about the UNC Rex Mobile Mammography Unit, which can travel all over the Triangle and beyond to perform tests and screenings at community events, particularly in rural communities that lack regular screening resources.
