The beautiful game will come back to Kenan Stadium for a third consecutive summer.
The UNC campus will host a friendly match between the Mexican and Turkish national teams Tuesday, June 10 as part of the 2025 MexTour, the school announced Tuesday.
The match will be both national teams’ first ever visit to Chapel Hill, as well as the first meeting between Mexico and Türkiye in men’s soccer. Tickets will go on sale Monday, March 10 at 10 a.m. at this link. UNC is encouraging fans to pre-register on the website for future ticket information and the opportunity to have first access.
“We are glad to welcome international soccer fans back to Chapel Hill again this summer for another fantastic event,” said UNC athletic director Bubba Cunningham. “We have no doubt the atmosphere at Kenan Stadium will be outstanding, and we can’t wait to host soccer fans from all over the world on our beautiful campus.”
The MexTour is part of Mexico’s build-up to the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, the North American regional championship in soccer. Mexico are the defending champions in the event.
This is the third straight year Kenan Stadium will have hosted a high-profile soccer match, though the first two involved club teams. Chelsea and Wrexham faced off in an exhibition in 2023, and Manchester City and Celtic played an exhibition in 2024.
