Following two tough losses to nationally-ranked competition this month, the UNC wrestling team got back on the winning side of things Sunday evening in Carmichael Arena. The Tar Heels comfortably defeated the visiting Campbell Fighting Camels to move to 3-2 on the season.

UNC won seven of 10 bouts on the night, and now hold a four-match winning streak at home, dating back to last season. Kizhan Clarke, Zach Sherman and defending national champion Austin O’Connor, all ranked in the top 12 of their respective weight classes, earned victories on the night. Clarke, a graduate transfer from American University, is still undefeated in his four individual bouts this season. He is currently ranked No. 12 in the 141-pound weight class.

O’Connor rebounded from a tough defeat at No. 10 Nebraska to win his bout via opponent disqualification. O’Connor has won three of four bouts this season as he attempts to win back-to-back individual national championships for the Tar Heels. He is still ranked No. 2 in the 157-pound weight class.

After breaking for the Thanksgiving holiday, head coach Coleman Scott’s team will take on two more ranked opponents this weekend, facing off with No. 22 Wisconsin and No. 18 Rutgers on Saturday as part of the Garden State Grapple event.
