Carolina will compete as a No. 2 seed in the 2024 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament and will face USC-Upstate in the first round at Dorrance Field.

The full bracket was announced Monday afternoon, with the Tar Heels learning their draw following a loss in the ACC Tournament on Sunday. Carolina will kick-off against the Spartans at 6 p.m on Friday, Nov. 15.

The winner of that match will face the winner of No. 7 seed BYU and unseeded Santa Clara, with the match being played at the home field of the higher seed. Both BYU and Santa Clara have defeated the Tar Heels in NCAA Tournament play in the last five seasons.

The Tar Heels enter the tournament with a 16-5 overall record. Carolina reached the championship match of the ACC Tournament before falling to Florida State. UNC sits at No. 2 in the national RPI rankings. This year’s tournament appearance is the 43rd in program history, and Carolina has not missed an NCAA Tournament since its inception.

The ACC is well-represented in the tournament field, with both Duke and Florida State earning No. 1 seeds. Wake Forest is also a No. 2 seed, Stanford is a No. 3 seed, Notre Dame and Virginia are No. 4 seeds and Virginia Tech a No. 7 seed. Cal also earned a bid as an unseeded team.
