The UNC women’s soccer team is ranked No. 10 in the preseason United Soccer Coaches Poll, which was released Tuesday afternoon.

The Tar Heels are part of a quartet of ACC teams in the top 10 of the poll: defending national champion Florida State is No. 1, Duke is No. 2 and Virginia is No. 4.

In addition to facing each of those three teams during the regular season, Carolina will play No. 11 Tennessee and No. 13 UCLA in Chapel Hill. No. 3 BYU will also visit Dorrance Field for a preseason exhibition match on August 13.

The Tar Heels are looking to rebound after a disappointing 2021 season which saw them miss the ACC Tournament for the first time and drop their opening match of the NCAA Tournament to South Carolina (ranked No. 12 in the preseason poll). Head coach Anson Dorrance’s team will begin preseason exhibitions on Sunday, August 7 in Chapel Hill against VCU, though the Tar Heels will be without a few players who are currently abroad for international tournaments. The regular season gets underway against Tennessee on August 18 in Chapel Hill.
