Wednesday afternoon at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill saw the top-ranked UNC women’s tennis team a huge 4-1 victory over the No. 3 Duke Blue Devils in a top-five ACC showdown.

This represents the sixth win in the last seven tries for the Tar Heels (17-1, 5-0 ACC) in the rivalry with Duke (10-2, 3-1 ACC)–and the second win UNC has earned over the Blue Devils this season.

UNC remained undefeated in doubles play this season to take the first point of the match, but Duke’s Ellyse Hamlin helped tie the match 1-1 with a singles victory over Alle Sanford (6-1, 6-0).

From there, though, Cameron Morra (6-2, 7-5), Sara Daavettila (6-4, 6-0) and Jessie Aney (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) closed things out with three straight singles wins for the Tar Heels.
