The UNC women’s lacrosse team will begin this upcoming season ranked No. 3 in the nation, as U.S. Lacrosse Magazine recently published its Nike/U.S. Lacrosse Preseason Top 20 in its January issue.

Last season saw the Tar Heels reach the NCAA Semifinals before falling to eventual national champion James Madison, which comes into 2019 ranked No. 6 in the country.

ACC rival Boston College starts the season as the No. 1 team in the land, followed by No. 2 Maryland, UNC, No. 4 Florida and No. 5 Stony Brook.

Regular season play for UNC begins with a shot at revenge against James Madison in Chapel Hill on Feb. 9.
