UNC junior Emma Trenchard was tabbed Tuesday as both the IWCLA National Defender of the Week, while also earning the same honor from the ACC.

In UNC’s 18-12 win over No. 7 Virginia this past Saturday, Trenchard tallied a career-high 11 draw controls, picked up a pair of ground balls and forced a turnover. In addition, she helped hold Virginia star Sammy Mueller to just one goal.

Trenchard leads the Tar Heels with 22 draw controls on the season.

Through five games, UNC is the No. 1 team in the country at 5-0 and has yet to an allow an opponent to finish a game closer than six goals.
