For the first time since 2014, the UNC women’s basketball team improved to 6-0 to start its season after defeating Missouri 82-69 on Friday to conclude play in the Cancun Challenge.

Senior transfer Medinah Muhammad led the Tar Heels with 24 points, while junior forward Janelle Bailey chipped in 20 of her own in what was just the latest impressive performance by head coach Courtney Banghart’s squad.

In addition, the Tar Heels–who led this game wire-to-wire–received 16 points from guard Shayla Bennett and 11 from senior Taylor Koenen.

UNC led Missouri (2-6) by 15 points at halftime and managed to hang on to that the rest of the way.

For the game, the Tar Heels shot 49 percent from the field and 55 percent on shots from behind the three-point line.
