With awards season in full swing this week, the ACC announced its men’s tennis honors Thursday morning.

UNC’s William Blumberg took home the league’s Freshman of the Year award, while joining teammates Ronnie Schneider and Robert Kelly on the All-ACC teams.

Both Blumberg and Schneider were First Team selections, while Kelly was named to the Second Team.

The fifth Tar Heel to win ACC Freshman of the year, Blumberg has risen to No. 28 in the national rankings after posting a 21-2 record in singles play this spring–including a perfect 11-0 mark against conference competition.

For Schneider–the nation’s 21st-ranked player–it was his fourth consecutive All-ACC First Team honor. He becomes the first Tar Heel to do so since David Caldwell did it each year from 1993 through 1996.

Kelly was a Third Team All-ACC choice last season as a sophomore, but moved onto the Second Team this year after working his way up to No. 10 in the national doubles rankings alongside Blumberg.

“I’m really happy for all three of them to have earned these honors in one of the toughest leagues in the country,” UNC head coach Sam Paul said. “For Ronnie to earn All-ACC honors four times is an amazing accomplishment. Will has had an outstanding season and it’s great to see him recognized for that. And Robert has been a tremendous player for us in singles and doubles.”

The Tar Heels (24-4) earned the No. 9 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, which they will begin in Chapel Hill on May 12 against VCU.
