Accolades continue to roll in for UNC senior running back Michael Carter, who was named a finalist on Wednesday for the Paul Hornung Award.

The Hornung Award is presented annually by the Louisville Sports Commission to the most versatile player in major college football.

Carter led the Tar Heels this season with 1,245 rushing yards while also totaling 267 receiving yards and 156 yards on kick returns. He added 11 total touchdowns and an average of 8.0 yards per carry that ranks third nationally.

In UNC’s win over Miami on Dec. 12, Carter ran for a career-high 308 yards–representing the second-highest single-game total in school history. His 3,404 career rushing yards rank fourth all-time on the UNC list.

Carter also recently joined junior receiver Dyami Brown and senior linebacker Chazz Surratt in opting out of the upcoming Orange Bowl in favor of preparing for the NFL Draft.
