UNC women’s golf associate head coach Aimee Neff was hired Wednesday as the new head coach at Florida Atlantic after a season where she helped guide the Tar Heels to an appearance in the NCAA San Francisco Regional tournament.

Neff spent only this past season at UNC after spending the prior year as an assistant at Vanderbilt. From 2013-16, Neff was on the staff at Michigan State–her alma mater–as her Spartans claimed the Big Ten title in 2014.

Before entering the coaching ranks, Neff was a professsional golfer for eight years.

“Aimee is a proven winner professionally and collegiately both as a student-athlete and as a coach,” Brian White, the assistant vice president and director of athletics at FAU, said in a statement released by the university. “I’m excited to welcome her to FAU and look forward to working with her to build a program that is highly competitive in the classroom and on the golf course.”
