UNC tight end Brandon Fritts announced via Twitter on Friday that he will transfer from the school for his final year of eligibility on the football field next season.

Fritts, who attended Mentor High School in Ohio alongside former Tar Heel star quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, missed all of the 2018 season after undergoing knee surgery in the spring.

In 24 games for UNC, Fritts caught 47 passes for 439 yards and nine touchdowns.
