Head coach Roy Williams and the UNC men’s basketball team made quite a splash in recruiting on Thursday, as five-star forward Armando Bacot–ranked No. 26 overall in the Class of 2019 by 24/7Sports.com–announced his commitment to play for the Tar Heels.

Bacot chose UNC over other scholarship offers from Duke, Georgia, Kansas, Miami, N.C. State, Oklahoma State, Villanova, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and VCU.

Standing at 6-feet-10-inches and weighing 240 pounds, Bacot should make an immediate impact in Chapel Hill when he joins a frontcourt that is set to lose All-American forward Luke Maye at the end of this upcoming season.

After previously playing his high school ball at Richmond (Va.) Trinity Episcopal, he will play his senior season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Bacot joins four-star guard Jeremiah Francis as the first two commits for UNC’s Class of 2019.
