The ACC released its preseason men’s basketball poll on Thursday, with UNC predicted by a panel of 111 media members to finish second in the league this year behind Duke.

A total of 19 first-place votes and 1,493 points were tallied for the Tar Heels. Duke garnered 51 first-place votes and 1,564 points on the way to its fourth consecutive preseason ACC title, one of the most prestigious honors in the entire sport.

Rounding out the top five in the poll were Louisville (29 first-place votes), defending national champion Virginia (12) and Florida State.

The 2019-20 regular season is set to begin on Nov. 6 for the Tar Heels, when they host Notre Dame–which was picked to finish seventh in the league–at the Smith Center.
