The UNC Tar Heels are heading to Charlotte as the number two seed in the West Region for this year’s NCAA Tournament.
Carolina is coming off of a loss to the Virginia Cavaliers in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game. The Cavaliers are the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Xavier is the No. 1 seed in UNC’s region, which will run through Los Angeles for the Sweet 16 and Elite 8. Carolina will face No. 15 seed Lipscomb in the opening round on Friday. The winner of UNC-Lipscomb would take on the winner of Texas A&M and Providence in the round of 32 in Charlotte on Sunday.
Joining UNC and Virginia from the ACC is Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Miami, NC State, Syracuse and Virginia Tech. The ACC’s nine teams in the tournament are the most of any conference.
Louisville and Notre Dame were two ACC teams who ended up on the wrong side of the bubble and did not make the tournament.
This year’s Final Four will be held in San Antonio, Texas.
