The DH Conley Vikings posted 5 runs in the home half of the 1st inning sparked by a Cam Jackson 2 run home run to propel the Vikings to 9 – 2 victory over the Chapel Hill Tigers on 97.9 The Hill’s first baseball broadcast of the spring.  Viking’s starting pitcher David Dobson held the Tiger’s in check throughout his 4 inning starting effort and booked the win.  Dobson made the right pitches at the right time as the Tiger’s threatened throughout the afternoon leaving 10 runners stranded in the contest.  Brock Cross and Cam Jackson of the Vikings each had multiple hits in the win.

The Tiger’s got on the board in the 6th inning when left fielder Anthony Castellano belted a towering solo home run into the parking lot to left field.  The Tigers threatened for more in the sixth loading the bases with only 1 out.  However, a sharp line drive to third off the bat of #13 Alex Rossman followed by a ground out to Viking 2nd baseman Zach Byrum off the bat of Tiger center fielder Tyler Tachman thwarted the threat in the 6th.  The Tigers added one more in the 7th before the Vikings nailed the door shut to seal the victory.

This was the first high school baseball broadcast of the young season for 97.9 The Hill.  WCHL High School Sports will air 8 more games this season with the next being Thursday, March 22nd when the Carrboro Jaguars visit the Graham Red Devils with a 7:00 p.m. first pitch preceded by a 6:45 pregame show.

The 97.9 The Hill Sports broadcast crew wishes to thank the DH Conley Vikings for their great hospitality in hosting Saturday afternoon’s game.
