The Tar Heels fell to 6-3 following the loss, with games against Western Carolina and Miami all that remain on the regular season schedule.
Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson and Ohio State held onto the precious top four spots this week, with No. 5 Texas A&M and No. 6 Florida just outside.
The rest of the top 10 consists of: No. 7 Cincinnati, No. 8 Georgia, No. 9 Iowa State and No. 10 Miami.
