Tuesday night marked the second-to-last College Football Playoff rankings of the 2020 season, with UNC moving up two spots to No. 15 this week.

The Tar Heels are coming off of their most impressive performance of the season, setting a new school record with 778 yards of total offense in a 62-26 victory at then-No. 10 Miami.

Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson and Ohio State again make up the top four teams in the country, with No. 5 Texas A&M and No. 6 Iowa State on the outside looking in.

The rest of the top 10 consists of: No. 7 Florida, No. 8 Georgia, No. 9 Cincinnati and No. 10 Oklahoma.

Miami fell to No. 18 after the big loss to UNC, while NC State makes its first appearance in the College Football Playoff rankings this year at No. 22–giving the ACC a total of five ranked teams this week.

Should Clemson defeat Notre Dame in this Saturday’s ACC Championship Game, both schools would likely make the Playoff. This would create a scenario where the third-highest ranked team from the league, in this case UNC, is invited to the Orange Bowl.

UNC has not played in an Orange Bowl ever and has not made a major bowl game since 1950.
