The UNC men’s lacrosse team rode a career-high five goals from Steve Pontrello to an 18-2 victory over Manhattan on Monday afternoon.
Twelve different Tar Heels scored as No. 17 North Carolina snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 4-3 on the season.
This is the second time this season Pontrello has posted a career-high in goals. In the season-opener against Michigan in early February, Pontrello netted four goals in the UNC victory.
Luke Goldstock added two goals and two assists in the Carolina victory over the Jaspers on Monday.
UNC will be back in action at seven o’clock on Saturday night hosting No. 19 Richmond.
The fourth-ranked UNC women’s lacrosse team improved to 5-2 on the season as the team began ACC play over the weekend with an 11-10 double-overtime victory over No. 7 Virginia.
Sydney Holman scored with two seconds remaining off of an assist from Aly Messinger to give the Tar Heels the win.
The women’s lacrosse team will take the field in Elon against the Phoenix at seven o’clock on Tuesday night.
