UNC will begin its NCAA Tournament run at PNC Aren in Raleigh at 7:20 on Thursday night.

But before the team’s first game action, the Tar Heels will have an open practice at PNC from 4:25 to 5:05 on Wednesday afternoon, the university announced on Tuesday.

The practice is open to the public and admission is free.

UNC will play Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday.  Florida Gulf Coast defeated Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round of NCAA Tournament play Tuesday night.

UNC is the No. 1 seed in the tournament’s East Region. If the Tar Heels are able to advance past the eventual 16 seed – no 16 seed has ever beaten at No. 1 seed in NCAA Tournament history – then Carolina will face the winner of the matchup between No. 8 Providence and No. 9 USC.

If the Tar Heels advance past the round of 32 matchup with either Providence or USC, the team would play the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games in Philadelphia before a potential trip to Houston for the Final Four.

WCHL and Chapelboro will have continuing coverage throughout the Tar Heels’ postseason.
