The ACC confirmed Friday morning that UNC will go on the road to play at Iowa on Dec. 8 as part of the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

This marks the first time the Tar Heels and Hawkeyes have met since Iowa defeated UNC 60-55 in the 2014 edition of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. UNC is just 1-3 all-time against Iowa, and this will be the Tar Heels’ first trip to play the Hawkeyes on the road since 1989.

Iowa brings back 2020 Sporting News National Player of the Year Luka Garza this season, which should create an interesting matchup against the depth and size of the UNC frontcourt.

In addition to the Maui Invitational in Asheville from Nov. 30-Dec. 2, the Tar Heels are also scheduled to host College of Charleston in their season opener on Nov. 25 and take on Ohio State in Cleveland on Dec. 19 as part of the CBS Sports Classic.

The Iowa game is the only other game currently on the schedule for UNC, which has already officially began practice for the upcoming season.
