The scheduled men’s basketball game between UNC and Syracuse on Jan. 2 has been postponed due to quarantining associated with a positive COVID-19 test among a recent Syracuse opponent.
At least one player from the University of Buffalo tested positive for COVID-19 following the school’s game at Syracuse this past Saturday.
Due to New York’s mandatory 14-day quarantining period for close contacts, the Orange also had to postpone games against Notre Dame and Wake Forest.
This is the third time this season Syracuse has had to pause basketball activities due to issues related to COVID-19. Head coach Jim Boeheim also tested positive earlier this season.
For the Tar Heels, this represents the second game they have had postponed this season. UNC was able to schedule NC Central on short notice earlier this month after COVID-19 issues at Elon kept that game from happening.
