North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper sent out a tweet on Monday night with a public service announcement for the coronavirus pandemic featuring all three of the Triangle’s prominent men’s basketball coaches — UNC’s Roy Williams, NC State’s Kevin Keatts and Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski.
In a state where college basketball functions as somewhat of a secondary religion to many people, the trio of coaches took the time to reinforce messages previously introduced by the governor, the CDC and the White House.
Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, avoiding touching your face, staying home if you’re feeling even the slightest bit of illness and limiting social contact were the four main points touched on by the coaches.
Towards the end of the video, Krzyzewski urges people to visit ncdhhs.gov/coronavirus to get the most up-to-date information surrounding the COVID-19 disease.
Even the biggest rivals agree, when it comes to stopping COVID-19 we’ve got to be on the same team. pic.twitter.com/fsoRuYq3eL
