Two of the most beloved Tar Heel basketball players in recent memory had their jersey numbers honored on Saturday night during halftime of UNC’s blowout win over No. 14 Virginia.

Brice Johnson and Marcus Paige–who each graduated following last season–are the 50th and 51st Tar Heel players to have their jerseys placed in the rafters of the Dean E. Smith Center.

Although Johnson’s No. 11 and Paige’s No. 5 have been on display in the rafters all season, Saturday marked the official ceremony.

UNC makes two distinctions for jerseys in the rafters. Eight numbers have been “retired” and will never be worn again, while 43 have simply been “honored” for various reasons.

Johnson was a consensus First Team All-American in 2016, while Paige earned Second Team All-American status as a sophomore in 2014.

The duo also helped lead UNC to the ACC regular season and tournament titles in 2015-16, while also guiding the program back to the Final Four for the first time since 2009.

Former Tar Heel legend Sam Perkins is the only other Tar Heel besides Johnson to have 1,700 points, 1,000 rebounds, 150 blocks, 100 assists and 100 steals over the course of their college careers.

Paige, meanwhile, is the school’s all-time leader in three-pointers made with 299. The last one he hit–a game-tying double clutch heave with time running down in last year’s NCAA Final against Villanova–has also become one of the most memorable shots in school history.

UNC also honored former softball star Kristen Brown during Saturday’s game. The Tar Heels’ all-time home run leader joined Paige at mid-court during a second half media timeout, as the two were named the school’s two Patterson Medal recipients for 2016–a prestigious career achievement award.
