The UNC football team already had a list of opponents for next season, but the actual dates of its ACC games had yet to be decided.

That mystery came to an end on Tuesday when the ACC released official conference schedules for each school.

A home opener against Cal on Sept. 2–a team that fired head coach Sonny Dykes after going 5-7 last season–will kick things off for the Tar Heels as they looks to win their season opener for the first time since 2014.

As always, UNC will face off against each of the other six teams in the ACC Coastal Division–as well as rival NC State out of the Atlantic Division.

The eighth conference opponent for the Tar Heels this season will be Louisville–which will bring Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson to Kenan Stadium in Week Two (Sep. 9).

It will be the first time UNC has hosted a reigning Heisman winner since Ohio State and Archie Griffin came to Chapel Hill in 1975.

Other non-conference games on the schedule include: a road matchup with Old Dominion in Week Three (Sep. 16), a home showdown with Notre Dame in Week Six (Oct. 6) and a visit from FCS opponent Western Carolina in Week 12 (Nov. 18).

Another interesting quirk in the schedule is how early in the season UNC will play against Duke–a rivalry game traditionally held off until the later portion of the year.

This year’s Battle for the Victory Bell will take place on Sept. 23 in the Tar Heels’ fourth outing of 2017.
