The Associated Press released its Preseason College Football Top 25 rankings on Monday, with UNC checking in at No. 18 to begin the 2020 campaign.

Clemson is the No. 1 team in the country to start the year, closely followed by No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 Georgia and No. 5 Oklahoma.

The rest of the top 10 consists of No. 6 LSU, No. 7 Penn State, No. 8 Florida, No. 9 Oregon and No. 10 Notre Dame.

Clemson, Notre Dame and UNC are the only teams from the ACC included in the rankings.

The Tar Heels are scheduled to begin their season on Sept. 12 against Syracuse. Of their 11 scheduled opponents, only Notre Dame is ranked in the top 25.

All Division I teams were eligible to be ranked in the preseason top 25, but once the season starts only teams who are competing in the fall will be included.
