The UNC football program received a verbal commitment on Thursday from three-star offensive lineman Trevyon Green, who stands 6-foot-7 and weighs just over 330 pounds.
Green is a native of Colonial Heights, Virginia and attends Life Christian Academy. He is the third commitment for UNC’s Class of 2022, and third player from Virginia to join the class.
According to 24/7 Sports composite rankings, he is the No. 51 ranked offensive tackle in the country.
The Tar Heels originally offered Green a scholarship in July 2019 when he was a member of the Class of 2021. He later reclassified to the Class of 2022.
At one point early in his high school career, Green weighed well over 400 pounds — which prompted the decision to reclassify so that he could work on his body.
Other schools in the hunt for Green’s services included: Boston College, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
