Behind a pair of outstanding pitching performances from Austin Love and Shawn Rapp, the UNC baseball swept Friday’s doubleheader against Miami at Boshamer Stadium.
Love allowed just one run on seven hits through 6.1 innings in UNC’s 4-2 Game One victory, while striking out seven Miami hitters.
In the second game–a 6-5 UNC win–Rapp made his first career start and struck out eight batters across six innings–allowing two runs on four hits.
Dallas Tessar and Justice Thompson each had two RBIs in the first game for the Tar Heels (20-16, 14-12 ACC), with Tessar hitting a solo home run in the fourth inning.
Game Two saw UNC’s Mac Horvath smash a two-run homer that represented the first of his college career. Angel Zarate also drove in two runs as the Tar Heels wrapped up their fifth ACC series victory of the year.
