Despite getting three hits from center fielder Justice Thompson on Sunday at Boshamer Stadium, the UNC baseball team dropped its series finale against Miami by a score of 8-1.

Thompson scored in the first inning on an RBI single by Danny Serretti to give the Tar Heels (20-17) a 1-0 lead, but Miami (22-13) stormed back with four runs in the second frame–including a two-run homer by Dominic Pitelli.

Neither team scored again until the seventh inning, when the Hurricanes added three more runs to their lead.

Miami would go on to add another run in the top of the ninth as insurance, before ultimately closing out the victory and avoiding the series sweep.
