A late offensive explosion Sunday afternoon helped lift the No. 20 UNC baseball team to a 10-3 road victory over the previously undefeated No. 13 Louisville Cardinals at Jim Patterson Stadium.

The Tar Heels (8-7) tallied two runs in the seventh inning and six more in the eighth, turning what was once a 3-2 deficit into the game’s final score.

Ike Freeman and Zack Gahagan each tallied two hits and three RBIs for UNC, while Brandon Riley added a two-run double as part of the big eighth inning.

Junior Brett Daniels got the win on the mound after tossing 4.1 innings and only giving up two hits. This comes in addition to striking out six Cardinal hitters and after pitching in all three games during the series.

With the loss, Louisville drops to a measly 14-1 this season (2-1 ACC)–its first defeat in 15 games so far.
