The UNC men’s basketball team revealed earlier this week that it has added sophomore guard Duwe Farris to the roster less than a month before the 2020-21 regular season begins.
Farris spent last season playing for the Tar Heels’ junior varsity team, and has a family full of former UNC athletes. His father ran track at UNC, while both his grandfather and great-grandfather were Tar Heel football players.
A native of Charlotte, Farris was a three-year at Myers Park High School. Current Myers Park Assistant Coach Nick Jones shared a message about Farris joining the UNC varsity men’s basketball program on Twitter.
The entire @MyersPark_Hoops family is extremely proud of 4 year Letterman (2015-2019) @Duwefarris officially making the UNC Tar Heel roster as a walkon for the 2020-21 Season! Duwe was a member of the JV program last season. @CoachSMT @Astabler15 @CoachWilmot pic.twitter.com/r7ixYY3zFj

As a senior in high school, Farris helped guide the team to a 22-9 record.
