A pair of Tar Heels were named to the All-ACC baseball teams released on Monday, with starting pitcher Austin Love selected to the First Team and centerfielder Justice Thompson earning Second Team honors.
Love is a two-time ACC Pitcher of the Week who led the conference in innings pitched (89.2), ranked third in strikeouts (111) and eighth in opposing batting average (.216).
The Salisbury native has thrown a complete game in each of his last two starts–including striking out a career-high 15 batters against Georgia Tech last Thursday. He has four starts this season with at least six innings pitched and 10 or more strikeouts.
Thompson gained his All-ACC recognition in his first year with the Tar Heels after transferring from Northwest Florida State College.
The 6-foot-4-inch outfielder finished the season with a .321 batting average to go along with seven home runs and 23 RBIs. His defense in center field was also among the best in the league this season.
UNC compiled a 26-24 overall record during the regular season and earned the No. 6 seed in the ACC Tournament after going 18-18 in conference play.
The Tar Heels begin their run in the conference tournament on Tuesday in Charlotte with a game against No. 10 seed Pitt.
