A trio of Tar Heels were selected Monday to the Associated Press College Football All-American Teams, representing the program’s first All-American choices since 2015.
Junior running back Javonte Williams earned a spot on the Second Team, while senior running back Michael Carter and junior receiver Dyami Brown each were named to the Third Team.
Williams led the country in broken tackles this season on his way to 1,140 rushing yards, 305 receiving yards and a new UNC single-season record with 22 total touchdowns.
Carter posted a team-high 1,245 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on just 156 carries, while also catching 25 passes for 267 yards and a pair of scores.
As the top deep threat for quarterback Sam Howell, Brown hauled in 55 passes for 1,009 yards and eight touchdowns–becoming the first Tar Heel wide receiver to post back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. His 21 career touchdown catches are tied for second in school history.
All three players have chosen to opt out of UNC’s upcoming Orange Bowl appearance against No. 5 Texas A&M, in preparations for the upcoming NFL Draft.
