The field for this year’s NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament was revealed Monday afternoon, with UNC receiving the No. 5 overall seed just one day after coming up short against Louisville in the ACC Tournament Final.
It marks the eighth time in the last 10 years that the Tar Heels have received one of the top 16 overall seeds, and it’s the team’s 18th postseason appearance in the last 19 years.
UNC has also advanced to the College Cup–the NCAA soccer version of the Final Four–in each of the past two seasons.
By virtue of their high seeding, the Tar Heels will host their Second Round match on Sunday, Nov. 18 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
The winner of Thursday’s first round match between High Point and James Madison will earn the right to face UNC.
