It was a party in the Dean E. Smith Center and on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill on Saturday after UNC men’s basketball closed out Duke in a 93-84 victory. But plenty of Tar Heels also took the party to social media to celebrate the win.

Many fans cheered on the play of junior Harrison Ingram, who put up 21 points and 13 rebounds in his first game against the Blue Devils as a Tar Heel.

Armando Bacot put an exclamation point on his final home game against Duke with a dunk in the waning seconds of the game. The moment led social media to erupt and continue celebrating his play, with Bacot finishing with 25 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists in the game.

As is tradition for the UNC student body and Chapel Hill community, fans rushed the intersection of Franklin Street and Columbia Street. Videos from the scene showed fans happy to celebrate a win over Duke for the first time since 2022.

Other fans simply had fun poking fun at UNC’s biggest rival and celebrating the Tar Heels’ play. Carolina trailed only once on Saturday, when the score was 2-0 in the first minutes of the game. The win strengthens the team’s grip on the top spot of the ACC standings and moves UNC to 10-1 in conference play.

UNC will next be in action against Clemson on Tuesday, with tip-off at 7 p.m. The Tar Heels will match back up with Duke for the final game of the regular season on Saturday, March 9 in Durham.
