Second-year head coach Mark Gangloff revealed the schedule for the upcoming UNC swimming and diving season, which is highlighted by four home duals.
The season begins on Nov. 6 and 7 with a two-day home dual against NC State. From there, the Tar Heels will travel to Greensboro for the U.S. Open on Nov. 13 and then to South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks the next day on Nov. 14.
Next up is the UNC Invitational, a quad-meet to be held in Chapel Hill from Dec. 3-5.
A pair of diving events will wrap up competition in the calendar year 2020, with the U.S. Winter Nationals in Greensboro taking place from Dec. 15-20 and the Auburn Invite from Dec. 16-19.
January will then have the Tar Heels competing in four duals, beginning with a short road trip to Raleigh to face NC State on Jan. 15. A trio of home dates follow after that, with UNC slated to host Virginia (Jan. 22), South Carolina (Jan. 23) and Duke (Jan. 30) before the end of the month.
This season’s ACC Championships will be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The women’s swimming championship and both the men’s and women’s diving championships will take place from Feb. 17-20, while the men’s swimming championship is scheduled for Feb. 24-27.
UNC finishes its home schedule on Feb. 28 with the Last Chance Meet.
The NCAA Zone Diving competition will come soon after from March 7-9, followed by the NCAA Championships–all of which will also be held in Greensboro. The women’s nationals run from March 17-20, while the men’s nationals will start a week later and run from March 24-27.
“I’m incredibly excited to get back to the pool and see our teams compete this season,” Gangloff said. “We’ve experienced unprecedented times since the onset of Covid forced the cancellation of last season. I think our team is really looking forward to a bit of normalcy and for us that’s returning to competition this fall.”
