UNC quarterback Sam Howell was selected Tuesday to ESPN’s Way-Too-Early All-American roster for the 2021 season, projecting him as the top player at the position.
Howell will be a junior in 2021 and likely among the top NFL prospects after throwing for 7,227 yards and 68 touchdowns over the last two seasons.
The Tar Heels have gone from the bottom of the ACC to their first major bowl appearance since 1950 with Howell behind center.
Many analysts are also giving Howell good odds to compete for the 2021 Heisman Trophy, while UNC is expected to be among the top 15 teams in the country heading into the season.
