According to a list published by ESPN on Friday, numbers from Pro Football Focus have identified the connection between UNC quarterback Sam Howell and receivers Dyami Brown and Dazz Newsome as the No. 10 quarterback-receiver combo in the country.

While the rest of the list was made up of quarterback-receiver pairings, the outstanding–and similar–numbers of Brown and Newsome allowed them to join up with Howell in a package deal.

Howell’s success last season was the driving force in the program’s quick turnaround, as he tossed an FBS true freshman record 38 touchdown passes.

Even more impressive was his use of the deep ball, where he had a 137.6 passer rating when throwing downfield to either Brown or Newsome.

Brown’s 14 deep target receptions ranked seventh in the FBS last season, while Newsome’s 13 such catches placed him 11th in the country.

Both receivers also topped the 1,000 yard mark in 2019, marking the first time in program history that has occurred.

Ohio State’s Justin Fields and Chris Olave earned the No. 1 spot in these rankings. Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence and Joe Ngata took the No. 2 spot and represented the first pairing from the ACC.
