Despite trailing 8-2 on Saturday at Boshamer Stadium, the UNC baseball team managed to claw all the way back to tie the game against Notre Dame–before eventually falling 11-8 in 10 innings.

It was the second loss in as many days for the Tar Heels (10-6, 0-2 ACC), who are still searching for their first conference win of the young season.

Notre Dame (9-2, 2-0 ACC) plated four runs in the top of the seventh by way of an RBI double and a three-run home run to go ahead 8-2.

From there, UNC scored five runs in its half of the seventh before adding another in the eighth to complete the comeback.

In the 10th inning, however, the Fighting Irish loaded the bases then cleared them on a huge double that ultimately proved to be the difference in the game.

For the Tar Heels, Dallas Tessar had a pair of doubles while Joey Lancellotti, Will Stewart and Tyler Causey each drove in two runs apiece.

Chris Joyner suffered his first loss on the mound.
