Nine current or former UNC women’s lacrosse players led the way at tryouts for the national team.
US Lacrosse announced the 36-player roster for the 2015 – 2016 US National Team after three days of tryouts in Baltimore over the weekend.
12 Tar Heels were invited to the tryouts. The nine Carolina players on the roster is the most of any school in the country. Maryland placed eight players on the roster.
Current UNC players to make the cut were rising junior Maggie Bill, rising sophomore Marie McCool, rising junior Caylee Waters, and recent graduate Courtney Waite. Former Tar Heels on the roster are Kristen Carr, Becky Lynch, Jenn Russell, Sloane Serpe, Laura Zimmerman.
The National Team will train in the lead-up to the 2017 Women’s World Cup in England. Ultimately, 18 players will represent the US on its search for a third consecutive and eighth overall world title.
