Twenty players were selected Thursday as part of the watch list for this year’s Julius Erving Award–which is given annually to the top small forward in the nation.
Among those chosen was UNC freshman Nassir Little, who arrived in Chapel Hill this past summer with huge amounts of hype as the highest-ranked high school player to choose the Tar Heels since Harrison Barnes.
Little became the first player since LeBron James to win the MVP honor at both the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic, and figures to have a prominent role on offense right from the start for UNC.
This will be the fifth year the Julius Erving Award has been handed out, with previous winners including: Mikal Bridges (Villanova), Josh Hart (Villanova), Denzel Valentine (Michigan State) and Stanley Johnson (Arizona).
