The Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame announced the field for its 2021 Tip-Off Tournament on Monday, with UNC one of four teams competing.
This event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 20 and Sunday, Nov. 21 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut and also includes Purdue, Tennessee and Villanova.
UNC begins play on Saturday against Purdue. The winner moves on to Sunday’s championship game against the winner of Tennessee and Villanova while the losers will participate in a consolation game.
This will also be one of the first major non-conference tests for the Tar Heels in their first year under new head coach Hubert Davis.
“We look forward to returning to Mohegan Sun for the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament which has proven to be one of the country’s best early season events,” John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame, said in a statement. “This year’s field of teams will bring a high level of competition and fanfare to a world-class venue in Mohegan Sun Arena.”
