UNC senior forward Luke Maye was selected Thursday to the Blue Ribbon Yearbook’s Preseason All-American Team, as he looks to build off a breakout campaign from a year ago that saw him rise from former walk-on to college superstar.

The Huntersville native is joined on the squad by a group including Duke freshman RJ Barrett, Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ, Purdue’s Carsen Edwards and Gonzaga’s Rui Hachimura.

After averaging just 5.5 point per game as a sophomore, Maye stepped up his production to 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game last year in his first full season as a starter.

Expectations for this year are even higher with the 6-foot-8 stretch forward expected to take on an even bigger workload in 2018-19 thanks to the graduation of former stars Joel Berry and Theo Pinson.
