The Associated Press released its annual college basketball All-American Teams on Tuesday, with UNC junior forward Luke Maye earning a Third Team selection.

Maye averaged 17.2 points and 10.1 rebounds per game for the Tar Heels this past season, as he made the full-on leap from walk-on to superstar.

The Huntersville native also helped bring along a full scale identity change on the offensive end for head coach Roy Williams and company, as his ability to knock down three-pointers at a 44 percent clip allowed UNC to spread the floor and field smaller lineups.

Joining Maye as AP Third Team All-American selections is a list that includes: Texas Tech guard Keenan Evans, Purdue guard Carsen Edwards, Villanova forward Mikal Bridges and Virginia guard Kyle Guy.

Maye’s Tar Heel teammate, point guard Joel Berry II, was listed as an honorable mention.

History was also made this year with the First Team All-American selections, as it was the first time that three freshmen earned the prestigious honor–Oklahoma guard Trae Young, Arizona forward De’Andre Ayton and Duke forward Marvin Bagley III.
