While much of the attention from fans and media alike went to tailback Elijah Hood after he ran for 168 yards and three touchdowns in UNC’s 48-20 win over Georgia Tech on Saturday, much of the credit inside the locker room went to the offensive line.

That effort was recognized Monday morning when senior center Lucas Crowley was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Crowley has helped the Tar Heels stay strong up front despite a rash of injuries at the offensive line position throughout the year.

UNC was aided by the return of right tackle Jon Heck against Georgia Tech, but as the center–Crowley remains the anchor that holds everything together.

The Tar Heels were able to open up their downfield passing game on Saturday thanks to the great success they had running the football behind the big offensive line.

In total, UNC ran the ball 35 times for a whopping 283 yards and five touchdowns.

The other times Crowley took home the award in 2016 were in Week Two against Illinois and in Week Seven for his efforts against Miami.

Picking up another honor in Week 10 just goes to show how consistent of a force he’s been from the beginning of the season up to this point.
