UNC junior running back Javonte Williams was added Wednesday to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which recognizes the most outstanding college football player in the country.

Williams joins Tar Heel quarterback Sam Howell on the list after posting some truly eye-popping numbers through UNC’s first eight games.

In that time, Williams has gained 868 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on just 120 carries while also catching 18 passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns. His 18 touchdowns are the most by any player in the country.

Another impressive statistic is that Williams leads the nation with 62 broken tackles and 58 first downs gained.

Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be revealed on Nov. 30.
