Fresh off scoring six goals in UNC’s 21-9 win over No. 10 Boston College this past weekend, UNC senior attacker Jamie Ortega was named the IWLCA National Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

Ortega recently became UNC’s all-time leader in goals scored. This performance made her the first Tar Heel to ever reach 200 career goals.

She scored four times in the second half against Boston College to help UNC close the game on an 11-2 run, while also adding a ground ball pickup and a forced turnover.

UCONN’s Sydney Watson shared the national award with Ortega after scoring 10 goals across the Huskies’ two games last week.

The Tar Heels are currently the top-ranked team in the country and are off to a 6-0 start this year after going 7-0 in the shortened 2020 campaign.

This Saturday at Virginia Tech will present UNC with its first road game of the season.
