UNC women’s tennis star Hayley Carter was named the ACC Player of the Year for the second straight season on Thursday, as the conference released its annual awards.
The senior–who’s currently ranked No. 2 in the nation–recently broke the league’s all-time record for career singles victories with 163 and counting.
It’s the fifth year in a row that a Tar Heel has won the ACC Player of the Year Award. Prior to Carter’s back-to-back honors, Jamie Loeb won the award twice in a row (2014, 2015) while Gina Suarez-Malaguti began the streak back in 2013.
Carter was joined by UNC teammates Jessie Aney and Sara Daavettila–who have each served as her doubles partner at points this season–on the All-ACC First Team.
Daavettila was also named the ACC Freshman of the Year after posting a 38-7 singles record in her debut campaign.
Fellow Tar Heel rookie Alexa Graham earned a spot on the All-ACC Third Team.
UNC (27-2, 13-1 ACC) is the top-seed in this week’s ACC Tournament, and will begin play on Friday in Rome, Georgia against the winner of Virginia and Florida State.
