Governor Roy Cooper honored the UNC Field Hockey team this week with a trip to the Governor’s Mansion and a proclamation over its success.
The governor hosted the team and coaches on Wednesday afternoon during a ceremony celebrating the program’s eighth national championship and second straight undefeated season.
UNC Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham shared a video from the opening moments of the ceremony, as Cooper welcomed the team to the Governor’s Mansion.

The field hockey team’s official account also shared a video of its trip to Raleigh.

Cooper also took to Twitter later on Wednesday, sharing some photos of him with the team and holding the signed field hockey given to him by the players and coaches.

Wednesday also held the recognition of National Women and Girls in Sports Day.
